EERIE Adds New Drummer
August 16, 2007VANMAKT's Gorgoth (a.k.a. Tais) has issued the following update on his Swedish gothic/doom metal project EERIE:
"It has been decided, EERIE will no longer be a one-man band. Since my drumming skills arnt the best I have decided to recruit a bloody good drummer called Gadd to the EERIE camp. I will still do all the music and so on, but my good friend Gadd will act as my studio drummer since he is alot better then me! This will of course open the doors for gigs in the future, but as of now, we dont have any plans on playing live. The main focus right now is to write new songs for an upcoming album and to find a label that wants to release it. After that we will have a conversation regarding live shows and other musicians and so on."
EERIE recently made its entire "Funeral Mist" promotional demo available for free download via its MySpace page. According to Gorgoth, "the decision [to make the songs available for download] is made 'cause I dont want to re-record any of the songs for my album. I want to write new and even more gloomy songs! It's time for me to leave everything old behind and start a new era in my life." The three tracks are as follows:
01. Echoes of Despair
02. Of the Dark
03. My Darkness
According to EERIE's official bio, the band "was formed by Tais in 2007, but has grown inside his mind since 2003. The love for doom and gothic/metal has always been a big part of Tais' life, and since the first time he picked up the guitar to write a song it has been melancholic tunes that have arisen. That's why he has been playing in a lot of constellations with a direction against the melancholic and melodic goth/metal."
